The Late Show: Cheerio

After a wonderful break in Thailand, I’m home. I return with news and I won’t pretend the world is gripped by this or that it will shake the radio industry – I’ll just get on with it.

I’m leaving The Late Show! Cue outrage and mass protests! No? Fine, suit yourself.

It’s been an amazing 8 months. Truly life changing for me. I’ve made friends for life and loved every single second of being on the radio every night. Late Show regular Hannah (we never did come up with a better name), the legend that is Kaz, Georgie, Greg and Olly from Oldham (haven’t heard from him for a while, I hope he’s OK!). We created our own little club, staying up late and putting the world to rights. For me, there are so many memories from our short time together – I’ll never wear PJ’s in public, walk away from a date because of wee splash, or listen to the lyrics of JLS’s Hottest Girl in the World without hearing the tragic desperation of my efforts to woo some ladies. Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together will always be ‘that song I played down the phone to my ex girlfriend’, I’ll always chuckle at Brian stubbing his toe in the bathroom before banging his head on the toilet and knocking himself out and I don’t think I’ll ever really get my head around Gaz accidentally sleeping with his (now ex) girlfriend’s twin sister. Some of the amazing sightings you came up with for HOFF WATCH will always make me smile and that secret thing we used to do after 12.30 – the boss never did find out! And remember Late Show rule number 1 – no soppiness! That rule still stands so let’s move on.

If none of that makes sense to you, I’m sorry. That must have been really boring to read, congratulations for sticking with it and making it this far. Fiona Sadler is taking over The Late Show and she is brilliant. You’ll love her. I’ll still be on Key 103 on Saturday afternoon’s, too.

That’s that.

So why all this? What’s next? I’m super excited about it and hopefully you will be too but I can’t say anything yet – I know you’re probably sat rocking back and forth wondering and worrying, but I’ll tell you as soon as I can. It’s going to be BRILLIANT. What? You’re not bothered? Fine then.

We have a few more weeks before Fi takes the helm so let’s have a blast.

See you Monday night from 10pm.
