Hanks’ Tanks… and other sure-fire hits.

I like Victoria Wood. I like tea. You can imagine my excitement at the news of a TV show in which Victoria Wood takes a look at the complex and often tragic world of tea and tea making. It’s on BBC One tomorrow at 9pm.

It follows quite a few recent TV offerings, seemingly born from alcohol fuelled ideas meetings in which eager to please yet intellectually vacant TV production monkeys slam together vaguely interesting subject matters with celebrities they think we’ll quite like and produce something to show after Eastenders. However annoying it may be – it works! I like Victoria Wood and I like tea. Guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow night at 9pm.

It’s not just Victoria at it either; there’s loads of them…

The Dales with Adrian Edmondson – I like the Dales, I like Ade Edmondson.
Cornwall with Caroline Quentin – I like Cornwall, I like Caroline Quentin.
The Secret Life of Dogs with Martin ClunesI like Dogs, I like Martin Clunes.
Great British Railways with Michael PortilloI like… actually… forget it.

As this seems to be such a winning formula, I thought I’d give it a go myself. I’ve put together some TV show ideas to pitch to the networks. Let me know what you think… and if you have any suggestions yourself…

Hanks’ Tanks – Actor Tom Hanks takes a look at the fascinating world of tanks.

Bodger and Badger Get Mashed in Ibiza – BBC Three.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, The Saturdays – Girl group The Saturdays uncover the nation’s favourite day, with unexpected results.

Jimmy’s Nails – English singer songwriter Jimmy Nail investigates disturbing cases of nail treatment gone wrong.

Slough… with Rhianna – Rhianna delves into the REAL Slough and finds out why the transformation of the local Tesco into a Tesco Extra has caused outrage in the heart of the community.

I’ll let you know how they get on.
