Introducing – Neon Jungle

I’ve waited what feels like forever to write that title. When Jess, Amira, Shereen and Asami stepped out to open The Hits Radio’s Future Hits Live in Newcastle a few months ago – a last minute, unpublicised addition to the line-up – and the crowd gave them one of the biggest welcomes of the night, it was obvious that Neon Jungle’s infections enthusiasm was going to be hard to ignore.

Finally, on this morning’s Breakfast Show, I got to give their new tune a spin. It was unfinished at the time of Future Hits Live so they couldn’t give us a debut; they just absolutely smashed a few perfectly chosen covers. I’ll be honest, I was nervous. They are beautiful and charming and have the energy you need to make it big in this game, but if you can’t record a decent tune, it isn’t going to happen. Full stop.

I needn’t have worried. ‘Trouble’ is a perfect introduction. They’ve arrived and they are going to have the time of their lives, even if it means they break a few plant pots hijacking your garden for a party. It oozes cool with every beat. If you were expecting a candy pop copy of Little Mix, sugar wrapped and ready to go, think again. It’s sexy, edgy, dirty and raw. And, most importantly you might argue, catchy as hell.

We’re hoping to do something with them on the show soon so watch this space. In the meantime, I’ll be playing them as often as the bosses will let me and check out the video to ‘Trouble’ below. Prepare to have it in your head for a while…
