Boots With the First: OJ Borg at Key 103 Live

Key 103 live is hurtling towards us like an arena shaped steam train packed with popstars. (Killer analogy? I think so)

Excitement is building in the Key 103 office and almost boiled over completely last week when I stumbled across a forgotten gem. If you came to our last gig at the Manchester Arena, Key 103’s Jingle Ball Live, you’ll have seen a sweaty Flo Rida deliver an inspiring headline set. Nobody was more inspired than Hometime and national lottery presenter OJ Borg who, in a taxi to the after party, was relentless in his performance of Flo’s catchy hit ‘Low’. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite catchy enough for OJ to get the lyrics right. He was going his own way with a unique several-hours-propping-up-the-free-bar type spin.

I think we can all agree, it was the work of a musical genius and deserved a bigger platform. Manchester deserves to hear this. On stage. In an Arena.

So, on Thursday last week, as I was covering the afternoon show for the mighty Adam Catterall, we got wind of an important Key 103 planning meeting taking place between the bosses that very afternoon. What a perfect time to pitch the idea. We roped in Louis from OJ’s show and set him off…

Could we get OJ on stage at the Manchester Arena with them… ?
