Max George: “There has been a lot of tension…”

The Wanted’s Max George has revealed there was “a lot of tension” between band members leading to last week’s split.

Max added, “Our personal lives drove us apart. Things started to happen and we were drifting. We used to be such a brotherly pact, but it started to feel like it wasn’t The Wanted any more.”

After weeks of speculation, the band announced on Thursday that their ‘Word Of Mouth’ tour was to be their last.

As much as its a great shame, its really no surprise. Rumours began just after Christmas when Max left his bandmates to fly home from the USA, with a spokesman blaming family reasons. Fans also saw clear disagreements during filming of their American TV show, The Wanted Life, with Tom in particular raising issues around Siva’s commitment to the cause. And Nathan has been less that subtle in his attempts to kick start a solo career, recording a song with on-off girlfriend Ariana Grande.

Its a shame, given how much fun the boys are to hang out with, but their most recent album fell way short of the standard.
